FAQ

How Long Does Microcement Take? A microcement job will take a minimum of 4 days, this is for the base system allowing for correct drying between each process. Generally speaking most 7 - 14 days depending on the size of the job and the surfaces being completed

What Can Microcement Go Over? Microcement bonds directly over concrete, timber, cement sheeting, plaster, glass, metal, basically anything; different surfaces will need additional processes and preparation.

Is Microcement Waterproof No microcement is waterproof; it is water-resistant. Just because water beads off a surface does not make it waterproof (if a competitor states it is waterproof, ask for the certification that complies with waterproofing regulations in Australia, half of them go off overseas standards.....)

Microcement The Finish That Changes Everything.

Here's your Seamless, strong. Applied by hand. Microcement is the last surface finish you'll ever need or want.

You've spent months designing your space. Every detail considered. Every finish deliberate. The last thing you want is a surfaces that looks like everyone else's. Microcement is how the world's most striking interiors achieve that raw, refined look that is unique everytime. Seamless floors that flow into walls, wet areas that feel like sculpture, finishes that make people stop and ask "what is that?" better yet its easy to clean and simple to maintain.

What is Microcement? Microcement is a hand-applied, polymer-modified or epoxy based overlay, just 2–5mm thick.

It transforms floors, walls, ceilings, joinery, and wet areas into a seamless, joint-free surface indistinguishable from polished concrete or natural stone, but without the weight, the cost, or the limitations.

Microcement works on almost any existing surface. New build or renovation. Wet or dry. Vertical or horizontal even upside down.

Not your average render/skimcoat. Microcement shares its roots with the render family, but that's where the comparison ends.

This is a far more refined, technical process. A minimum of 4 days on-site. Multiple layers. Grinding, polishing, and sealing, moisture testing to a standard that ordinary render simply doesn't require and a life span it render can't achieve.

The chemistry is different too. Where standard render is mixed with water, microcement is blended with a specialised polymer-modified liquid or epoxy  giving it exceptional flexibility, superior strength, and adhesion that sticks where others fail.

At Raw Surfaces we only work with the best. We install exclusively with Forcrete and XBond — two of the most trusted microcement systems available in Australia.

  • Forcrete is engineered so every layer is fully water resistant before sealers are even applied. It carries the highest abrasion resistance of any microcement on the market — run a knife over it and walk away with out a scratch.

  • XBond brings over 25 years of proven performance in Australia, the highest flexibility of any microcement carrier, and CodeMark certification for waterproofing.

The results aren't just beautiful. They're built to last.
