FAQ
Can I DIY Polished Concrete You can do anything! But to polish concrete properly not a grind and seal there are around 17 steps and all your mistakes are enhanced in every process. Equipment hire and material costs will also most likely outweigh the benefit. If you are just after a cheap quick polished concrete look alike you can do a grind and seal with moderate diy skills but the amount of stone you will see, will likely be low because the equipment that is available for hire does not have as much weight or power behind it
Can Any Concrete Be Polished? Almost any concrete can be polished but not all concrete can achieve every desired amount of stone most concrete that is not purpose poured for Polished Concrete requires additional work to get it to the same strength as concrete that is intended for polishing
What Is The Best Brand Of Polished Concrete? As far as brands of materials go there is no leader, selecting a contractor like raw surfaces is more important as our process and materials we use is altered by the requirements of your concrete. At the end of the day our job is to strengthen and enhance your concrete to become a finished surface.
How Much Is Polished Concrete ? Our Polished Concrete start at $7700+gst the way we build our project cost is based on what your project needs and not a sqm rate alone this means you get the right job no excesses
How Do I Prepare For My Polished Concrete? This all begins with your projects start point, before the concrete is poured we have all the time options and choices to get you what you want. Once the concrete is poured we need to adapt our plan to see what can give you and set and manage exceptions. we can not change the colour of your concrete or stones once the floor is poured. the only other things we need is a clean clear space with as little cabinetry and skirt boards as possible
Can I Choose The Colour If you have not poured your concrete yet you can choose the colour with your builder, concreter & concrete provider. we have no influence over the colour of your rocks or concrete

FAQ
How Long Does It Take To Polish Concrete? Depending on what your project needs additional grinding chemicals ect you can not polish concrete in fewer than 3 days if you allow the chemicals to cure correctly between processes (which is the most important part of polished concrete.) this time line can also be expanded where the floor needs additional chemical or processes
Can Polished Concrete Go Outside? real polished concrete can not go outside but variations of polished concrete can go outside such as honed or pavilion finish
Is Polished Concrete Cold? No, polished concrete holds thermal mass, which means it holds and regulates the ambient temperature, generally speaking a polished concrete floor is within 2 deg of the room temperature with the only exception being a surface that is in direct sunlight or under a heating or cooling source, this section of the surface is always hotter or cooler than the rest of the surface
Is Polished Concrete Slippery? This is a question I get all the time. The only time when polished concrete is slippery is when a wet surface meets a dry surface for example, I have polished concrete in my bathroom when the grounds wet and my feet are wet its not slipper due to the friction. But when I walk through the rest of the home with wet feet the floor is slippery. Keep your feet dry and its good!
Do You Need Special Power? Yes our machines run off 3phase power this can either be achieved by a special power point wired into your property or by a generator. We require one of these power sources to complete your project
Is It Dusty. When done correctly polished concrete will have minimal airborne dust, we use h class 3phase vacuums to capture the dust as it created & commercial grade air filters to get what's missed. generally speaking a broom make more airborne dust than a quality contractor like raw surfaces

Polished Concrete
The most versatile underrated floor on the market - when its done right
You've spent months designing your space. Every detail considered. Every finish deliberate. The last thing you want is a floor that looks like an after thought and forgotten.
Polished concrete is how the most striking homes and spaces achieve that natural refined look a surface born from the very bones of the building itself. Floors that catch and reflect light and hold temperature and regulate it.
Surfaces so smooth they feel like glass underfoot. Finishes that make people stop and say "this is concrete?" Better yet, it only gets more beautiful with time.
What is Polished Concrete?
Polished Concrete is the process of mechanically and chemically refining your existing concrete into a finished surface. No coatings. No renders. No overlays. Just the concrete itself, ground, hardened, polished & sealed until it becomes something extraordinary.
This process turns the concrete into the finish, rather than putting a finish on the concrete. That means there's nothing to scratch, peel, or discolour. The surface can be walked on the moment it's complete,
Polished concrete works with what's already there or with new concrete where you choose the colours and finish before it poured. The natural stone, aggregate, and tonal character hidden inside your slab, brought to life.
Not your average polished concrete floor you see in a cafe
Here's the truth: polished concrete means something different to almost everyone you ask. The industry is full of imitations. Epoxy coatings, acrylic sealers, grind-and-seal finishes that look similar on day one but age in entirely different ways.
Genuine polished concrete doesn't use a topical sealer or coating. It's a multi-stage mechanical process: grinding, grouting, chemically hardening with densifier, refining through progressively finer stages, and sealing with a penetrating sealer that works within the concrete, not on top of it.
The chemistry matters. Where coated floors rely on a sacrificial layer that wears, scratches, and eventually needs replacing every 3 to 7 years, genuine polished concrete becomes the surface itself. It delivers a minimum 10-year lifespan with proper care, and a durability that coatings simply cannot match.
The results aren't just beautiful. They're built to last.
Microcement styles & designs
Polished concrete is not a one-size-fits-all basic finish. It's art chemistry & a deep project understanding to get what you want.
Whether you prefer a high-gloss terrazzo look, a subtle burnished aesthetic, or something with raw industrial character, polished concrete can help you achieve beautiful and distinctive designs for your home or property.
Every slab has its own natural aggregate, colour, and tonal variation, meaning your finished surface will be genuinely one of a kind.
Styles: polished concrete is available in a range of stone exposure levels, from
full terrazzo (90 to 100% aggregate on display)
industrial (10 to 90%)
burnished (0 to 5%),
with gloss levels ranging from low sheen through to ultra high gloss. The style you choose depends on your concrete, your space, and your vision.
